Narrative

Baptized at St Paul's Church, Newburyport. He was early in the Navy, moved to
Washington, N. C, from 1810 to 1818 engaged in merchandising. Went to Alabama
on horseback using compass and Indian trails selected his future home.
Returned then went with wife and one son by vessel to Mobile; there met Gen
Chas Lefebvre and came with him to Green Co which the latter owned. He bought
land, cleard the timber with his servants, and planted cotton. He enlarged
his property over time.
