Narrative
He spent nearly 25 years, in Boston, as a produce and wool commission
merchant, at Nos 8 & 9 Chatham Row, and 12 Chatham St; later at 65 Chatham
St. He sold the business, 1865, to W Hatch & Co; went to New York and leased
the store No 14 Walter St continuing his commission busness till Apr 1867;
then went to his farm at Henry Co, Ill. He preferred faming to business;
visited many parts of the U. S; providing family records and contacts. He was
the first, in 1858, to express interest in his ancestors.
