Narrative
Born Rowley, First Parish, in the house built by his grandfather, Samuel [75].
Died unmarried; buried Byfield. Kept grocery store; also manufactured shoes,
exchanged them with Merritt & Co and Gen John PEABODY, Newburyport for West
India goods for the store; also sent to brother Dudley, in Belfast, for cargos
of lumber. Business prosperous until 1812 war. Store destroyed by fire Feb 25
1812; rebuilt from donations. Introduced new types of seed. Was of fine pro-
portions, usual stature, black hair & eyes, benevolent. Died of consumption.
