Narrative
He obtained a mercantile education in the counting-room of his uncle, Isaac
STICKNEY, in Boston; was admitted a partner, 1863; carried on an extensive
commission business in produce and wool at No 65 Chatham St, Boston. They
moved Oct 1865 to New York City, at No 14 Walter St till Apr 1867. The sudden
decease of his father caused him to return home to Woodhull, Henry Co, Ill,
where he then engaged in the improvement and cultivation of an extensive
farm. He was unmarried.
