Narrative

He was a private in the Battle of Lexington 1775; a drummer in 1776/7; a
fifer in 1777 to reinforce the Continental Army; a Fife-Major in 1778 to
guard Lieut Gen BURGOYNE's army; at Winter Hill 1778 as private; as private
and Fife-Major 1779-81 Rhode Island Service. He settled in Hallowell, Me,
where all his children were born. For his service he was on the 1840 census
list as receiving a pension. He had black hair and eyes and was of a medium
stature.
