Narrative

Elected Captain of the 1st Foot Co of Concord Infantry, Nov 2 1811; Selectman
1814. Moved to Springfield, N. H, where he kept an hotel on the road to
Dartmouth College 1819-27; postmaster there 1821-36 and Justice of the
Peace. Returned to Concord; was Selectman 1841-1852; Trustee of N. H, Savings
Bank; Director N. H, Mutual Fire Ins Co and also Concord Bank. In 1854 gave
the city the land on which City Hall and County Court House stood. Was
Director of Portsmouth R. R, 1855.
