				He was born at Pleasant Valley, Litchfield Co, Conn; son of Asaph, and
				grandson of Asaph on eof the first settlers of Goshen, Conn. He represented
				that town in the State Legislature, 24 years in succession, and was a
				Professor in the Naval Observatory at Washington, D. C.
