Came to Boston in 1822. Employed by John HOUSTON 4 yrs; then in partnership
with Charles O WHITMORE, Lombard & Whitmore till 1855; then in partnership
with George WHITNEY (son of Israel WHITNEY) & elder son Dwight LOMBARD,
Lombard, Whitney & Co. He died at his residence at Newton; "a man of great
enterprise, sagacity & financial skill, of scrupulous integrity, amiable
character, held in high esteem by the mercantile community." Held
directorships in banking, insurance and railways.
